»Every lecture will start with fundamental concepts and progress to more sophisticated ones. As a result, both experts and others with limited prior understanding of the topics presented may understand them,« says Tanja Bivic Plankar, the head of a program committee of the conference Mastercard 255 to the Moon and a president of Blockchain Alliance Europe.

Mastercard 255 to the Moon is an international conference that fuses top sports and advanced technologies. What topics will be covered during the conference?

The conference focuses on the field of blockchain technology, including the NFTs. The starting point was a project that the Ski Association of Slovenia is preparing for the second year in a row. Visitors to the live and digital part of the program will be able to learn about the various possibilities of using NFTs and the opportunities for user activations. The program will include a section on fintech and recent developments in this area. Representatives of different countries will present projects in the field of web3 and blockchain technology. A portion of the conference will be devoted to the metaverse, and there will also be discussed the potential of blockchain technology going forward.

There will be networking opportunities, and all content will be presented by specialists who have not yet visited the area. Digital and live visitors will also have the chance to listen to additional, exclusive digital content and workshops, which will be available one month after the event.

255 to the Moon – where does the name come from?

In the blockchain community, the phrase “to the moon” was often used between 2016 and 2018, and it expressed a strong desire for specific projects to flourish and for the value of their tokens to “skyrocket.” If we take the phrase literally, the flight to the Moon is one of humankind’s most outstanding achievements. The crews who flew in the Apollo program were distinguished by their courage, exceptional training, and love of flying, just like the ski jumpers performing in Planica.

The maximum leap that ski jumpers can make under 100% perfect circumstances is 255 meters.

Several parallels can be drawn with advanced technologies: companies that successfully and long-term test themselves in this field are indeed distinguished by courage, excitement, and professionalism; numerous requirements must be met for their worldwide success.

Whom is the conference intended for?

The conference is intended for anyone interested in blockchain technology, fintech, web3 and metaverse. Every lecture is organized to start with fundamental concepts and progress to more sophisticated ones. As a result, both experts and others with limited prior understanding of the topics presented may understand them.

Whom do you want to meet in Planica? What are you most looking forward to?

I’m eager to meet all the female speakers since I strive to strengthen the representation of women in the blockchain and other cutting-edge technology business sector. Iris Cordoba Mondejar, Candyce Costa, Marja Konttinen, Urška Starc Peceny, Ana Lukner Roljič, and Nena Dokuzov are just a few of the many women I respect and who will be attending the conference. I am excited to meet all the other outstanding professors.

You are the head of the program committee. How do you prepare for such an international event?

Because of such a strong team and an experienced organizer, preparations move along fast and effectively. At this point, I would want to express my thanks to the organizers, Slo Ski and Jožko Križan, for their trust. It will have an exciting overture that makes it worthwhile to visit this year’s Planica festival in the Valley of the Ponce Mountains.
